CBN Origins
A little about CBN & the man who created it. I don't know every detail. :) But I did have an opportunity to do a email interview with the creator of CBN , Todd Paschall . That interview is underneath this gallery collection of his finished pieces.
1.) First things first....it is a growing trend~ men crocheters, more & more are joining this Women Dominated skill. Can you tell me who taught you to crochet, & for how long have you been crocheting?
My baby sister taught me to crochet. My mother's cousin came into town for a few days. She taught my
sister and then she taught me.
2.) When did you first have the idea for CBN & did it take you a long time to get the program up & running?
I knew from the very start I had to do something different with crochet. My boys were giving me a hard time because I was crocheting. You know what I mean. It was when I got my son's first born pictures that set me on the path. It took about a year to write the program.
3.) In the development of the CBN program, did you have a time when you just felt like "throwing in the towel" , so to speak?
I never thought about throwing in the towel. Once I started down that path, I knew I could do it.
4.) Did you think that CBN would become as big as it is with Crocheters?
I knew they would like it but I didn't knew how hard it will be to put this technique in front of them.
5.) What do you see in the future of CBN?
I see CBN migrating all over the world.
6.) What are your favorite CBN projects? Wall portraits, afghans, sweaters Etc?
The one I'm working on now of my mother and father !
7.) I do know that you are very busy, Instructing on & offline, and creating all of the patterns ....if CBN keeps growing & growing, do you think you will ever offer the software for CBN for sale?
I'm working on it.
8.) No business is perfect...what has been your biggest problem or issues, since you have started CBN?
I guess the marketing. I have to work really hard at getting this technique in front of fellow crocheters.
9.) Do you do any other crafts, that don't involve hook & yarn? :)
CBN can be applied to beading, tile or cross stitch but I don't have the time to work with it.
10.) Do you have any CBN advice for Instructors, (future & present), & students (future & present)
Only advice I have for students and instructors is that this isn't give away crochet. This is an investment that you can earn some extra cash with.
11.) Can you describe CBN in 1 word?
Fun !
